BACKGROUND:Chroniclymphocyticleukemia(CLL)andchronicmyeloidleukemia(CML)arehighlytreatableconditionsoccurringprimarilyinolderpatients.Lowersurvivalamongolderpeoplehasbeenreportedinbothconditions,butnewertreatmentsmaychangeboththeoverallsurvivalrateandtherelativeriskassociatedwithaging.Here,weexaminesurvivalforpatientswithCLLandCMLintheUnitedStates(US)andEngland.METHODS:PatientswithCLLandCMLwereidentifiedfromtheSurveillance,Epidemiology,andEndResults(US)andNationalCancerRegistry(England).Fiveyearrelativesurvivalwascalculatedbymajoragegroup.Excesshazardratios(EHR)byagewerecalculatedforeachconditionandmultivariableanalysiswasperformedtoadjustforthefollowingpotentialconfounders:gender,raceorethnicgroup(USonly),periodofdiagnosis,andameasureofsocio-economicdeprivation(Englandonly).RESULTS:FiveyearrelativesurvivalincreasedforbothCLLandCMLinbothEnglandandtheUSbetween-and-.However,relativeage-relateddisparitiespersisted.ForCLL,theEHRfordeathwas9.44(7.84-11.36)intheUSand6.14(5.65-6.68)inEnglandforages85+
